Most commonly used in DNA and RNA isolation protocols to digest contaminating proteins, inactivate nucleases, and improve nucleic acid yield and purity -- Proteinase K is active across a wide pH range and tolerates the buffer conditions and denaturing agents typically used in extraction workflows.
